Syd's Fear and Loathing Moment

I promise we are not bad parents. About a week ago when Syd was waking up from her nap I jokingly put her sunglasses on her because she is always all blinky and squinty when she first wakes up. But it was not until she grabbed the infant Tylenol and jammed it in her mouth that it all came together. Between the psychedelic pyjamas, the sunglasses and the Tylenol she looks as if she is coming off of some major bender or has a Tylenol problem! So. Freaking. Funny.

A Night Out

This past Saturday night we were able to celebrate a major milestone in my sister's life. She has officially become a CA! Well.... almost. She has passed all of her exams and just has to finish her hours. We all got dressed up and made our way down to the CA ball to celebrate her accomplishment. It was such a fun night and we were able to have a few drinks and some good food.

My sister, Jeannie, wore an amazing floor length gown with crystals on it while my mom rocked a black and white evening gown. I decided to go a little less formal and opted for a little purple BCBG number that I picked up during our month in Phoenix. David wore his amazing grey Sean John suit and a skinny tie from Express (another Phoenix find).

All in all we had a fantastic time and I had the hangover the next day to prove it.

Congratulations Jeannie!

We're Moving!

Well, we are trying to sell our condo once again. I love our place but I am so excited to have more space for Sydney and all of her stuff! She has taken over all 950 square feet and it is starting to feel might cramped.

It took us a few days to get the place in order. We de-cluttered and took down a lot of our personal photos and re-organized the entire TV unit. It was a lot of work but I think it looks great! If you know anyone who is interested in moving, please send them our condo listing.

Here are a few photos of the place:

Time Flies

One year ago this morning, I was in the hospital starting the labor induction process. That. Is. Crazy.

Sydney's Snow Day

When you live in Canada you learn very quickly that you just have to get used to cold, snowy weather. I have always refused to fall in love with winter. I do not like cold weather, icy roads, lots of snow or big bulky winter clothing. I am truly a warm weather baby. For years I have been begging David to move to a warmer locale. He has adamantly refused for five years. So here we are, in the midst of Sydney's first real Canadian winter. After a week of temperatures dipping as low as -50C, it was time to dress her up and let her experience playing in the snow.

We obviously do not have a back yard in our condo, so we packed everything up and made our way to Gran and Gido's house. There, Sydney crawled around cautiously in the snow while her dad tried to bury her.

She spent about ten minutes trying to figure out what the heck was going on. I could just see her thinking "Seriously parents?! This is freezing, I can't move in this giant suit and what the heck are on my hands!"

I believe that our child may take after me. My love for warmer climates has passed on to our daughter. Yay! Maybe now we can convince David that we need to move somewhere that allows us to wear flip flops in the winter.

First Birthday Prep

Sydney's first birthday is FAST approaching! As of next Thursday we will have a one year old! I cannot tell you the emotions I feel when I think of our baby getting older. I still look at her every day and see my sweet little newborn.... then she stands up, tries to climb on me or calls me mum and I realize that she is no longer a new baby. She is a toddler.

As much as I want time to slow down I am intensly excited for her first birthday party. We are planning a full on monster themed bash and I am going all out with the details. Her invitations are super rad little monsters with googly eyes (they were sent out long ago). Here are a couple of crappy Blackberry pics of them:

I am also working on some table cards for all of the fun snacks we will have as well as an amazing paper garland! It is so cute and the idea was taken directly from Pinterest so I cannot take any creative credit on this one. Check it out in progress!

Now I just have to finalize the menu and figure out when the heck I am going to get all of this done.... yikes!

Standing Up

Well, my baby is getting close to becoming a little girl. My sweet little thing is becoming increasingly independent and strong. This past weekend.... she learned to stand on her own... ON HER OWN! She is so cute. She will grab onto something to pull herself up and then gently let go. After a few seconds she usually freaks out and either sits down or grabs on to something to stabilize herself.

It is insane! She is so darn big now. I am just counting down the days until we have a full fledged walking toddler on our hands. It is coming soon... I can feel it. One of my favorite things to do with her now is to get her into a stable standing position, then I let go and we clap hands and sing our ABC's. My hope is that it will help her get more comfortable with being on her own two feet.

The one thing I am not looking forward to when it comes to Sydney walking.... is that there will be a lot more wipe outs in our future! Bring on the fancy band aids and polysporin!
