Walking Machine

Well... Miss Sydney is officially a walker.

She took her first steps on Sunday night and like the crazy proud Mumum that I am, I cried and laughed all at the same time. It happened on a whim. I talked to Dave and said, "Let's see if she will walk between us." Sure enough, when I told her to walk to Dadad, she took three or four sturdy little steps into his arms. I think we were both in shock.

We have been practicing with her every night. She squeels and giggles as she walks back and forth between us. Even though we know it will be a lot of work chasing her around, we are both so excited to have a walking little girl. In all of the excitement, we managed to get a video of everything. I will post it when I find the time..... It has been insane in our home lately.

Welcome to My Nightmare

The people in my office are so nice. They treat me well and we all get along so well. But lately I have been having a hard time. Our office tends to order catering A LOT.

Yesterday, I walked into the kitchen to find a giant tray of cookies sitting there. The cookies were taunting me. Seriously... who orders these things! Do you not realize that I am on a diet!

Anyways... On the upside, I have lost over eight pounds in the last eleven days! Yay!!!!

Animal Love

As many of you already know, I am a massive animal lover.

Growing up, I was always interested in animal rights and I have had a beef and pork free diet since I was twelve. I have always thought that sloths were one of the cutest animals. They are so sleepy and fuzzy. Years ago, in Panama, I was able to see a sloth in it's natural habitat. He was hanging out high in a tree on the Panama canal and he was completely unaware of us. It was an incredible experience.

I came across this video today and it made me squeal with glee. How cute are these little guys! They are just like little babies.

A Learning Opportunity

Last Sunday I was invited to a photography workshop by a good friend of mine Conni of Constance Pohl Photography. She has started an offshoot of her photography business called Heart of the Image with another fabulous photography friend Lisa Lacroix.

I had a fantastic time spending an afternoon learning how to use the Canon that we have had forever! I have always used it to take our photos but I have never been brave enough to take automatic. We spent three valuable hours going over photography basics such as apurture, shutter speed and ISO. The information I recieved was invaluable!

I walked away from the workshop feeling like I may actually be able to figure this photography thing out! The girls delivered the information in a manner that made it far less overwhelming for the beginner shutterbug.

Here are a few pics I managed to snap. One of some flowers and a couple of Conni's sweet little girl Adelle... she is seriously one of the loves of my life.

A Sunny Afternoon

There is nothing better than cuddling and playing with my little girl on a sunny afternoon.

Sydney and I spent some quality time together on Saturday afternoon. We played and hugged as the sun poured in through the windows in our living room. It was glorious. These are the moments that I will always cherish.

The Diet

Let's be honest... I have never really had an unhealthy diet. I eat well and try to avoid really bad foods. I love vegetables and lean proteins and I do not eat red meat or pork. I induldge in the occasional glass of wine and piece of dark chocolate, but other than that I am pretty good. Unfortunately genetics have not been kind to me. I need to consistently eat healthy and excersize like crazy in order to lose any weight.

On Monday I decided to turn over a new leaf. If I am being completely honest... I am having some serious anxiety about all o the travelling we are doing this year to warm locales. A lot of it involves being on a beach in a bathing suit with a ton of our friends... none of whom have had babies. Talk about feeling self-conscious.

I stared the 17-Day diet. It is essentially a high lean protein, sugar free, carb free, unlimited veggie diet. It is fairly easy to follow. I have pre-grilled a mountain of chicken and grab fresh veggies that are easy to eat on the go. I am combining it with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred workouts and a ton of water and green tea.

So far I have lost 4.5lbs this week! I am officially only about five pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight... but it took me an entire year to lose it.

I can't wait to be down to my wedding weight. Wish me luck!
