Food Lovers Paradise

While away in Mexico last week, we were able to eat some pretty incredible food. Most associate all inclusive resorts with bland buffet lines and crappy quality.... but not this one.

Dreams resort has four a la carte restaurants (Oceana - Seafood, El Patio - Mexican, Seaside Grill - Fresh grill, and Portofino - High End Italian), one buffet and one beach side snack bar. All of them were absolutely fantastic! Here is a sampling of the food we are throughout the week:

Spencer the Sea Turtle

While we were in Mexico we had the opportunity to take part in a sea turtle conservation project.

Sea turtles are hatched and released into the ocean to start their lives. Sydney was absolutely thrilled to be able to see a turtle up close and personal. We named him Spencer and we cheered him on to the ocean. Hopefully Spencer is living a fantastic life under the sea with the rest of his siblings.

We're Back!

We have just returned from the most incredible trip to Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta ended up being the perfect spot for an absolutely stunning wedding and a fantastic family trip. Sydney was an absolute star on the flights and made a million new friends throughout the week. We flew out of Edmonton with about thirty other wedding guests as well as the bride and groom and partied the entire way to Mexico.

We stayed at the Dreams resort. It has a completely private beach, flanked by two cliffs and was completely breathtaking. We stayed in a massive room that adjoined to David's Dad's room (he came along to help us out with Sydney) and ate at all four restaurants, the buffet and the snack bar while we were there.

The whole experience was unforgettable. Being in a beautiful paradise with some of our closest friends in the world while we celebrate the marriage of two of our favorite people was incredible. We played by the pool together everyday, lazed on the beach, ate long dinners, enjoyed late night drinks and had penthouse parties.

The wedding itself took place on a completely private beach. You could only access it by boat and the entire place was candle lit, including the stone walkways and stairs. The sunset ceremony on the beach was sweet and personal. They read aloud their sweet vows, filled with inside jokes and loving memories. After dinner thecouple had organized the set up of a beach bonfire with a smore station and the full dance floor that was packed for the majority of the night. Scott and Kenna danced their first dance to "Is This Love" by Bob Marley and surprised guests with a traditional fire dance. When all was said and done, we hoped back on the boat for the hour ride to the resort where we drank from the full bar and danced on the boat deck to music spun by our own private DJ. Once back at the resort, the party continued on into the wee hours of the morning.

Here are a few photos from the trip:

Sydney's Cake Smash

Back in February when Sydney turned one, we decided to do a cake smash photo shoot. My good friend Conni watches Sydney for us when we are both working and she is an incredible photographer. She has captured so many amazing moments for our family. It is impossible to express our gratitude. Please check out her website here.

The cake smash was so much fun! I picked up a cake and made my way over to the Pohl residence. When we first set the cake in front of Sydney she just looked at it. i am pretty sure that she thought she would get in trouble if she touched it. After some coaxing and encouragement she daintily leaned over to have a little taste. It was all downhill after that.

Seriously!?!?

Ok, so on top of my brain fart with the soother this morning.... I just found out that I made another idiot move.

David is working night shift tonight so he generally picks Sydney up in the afternoon to hang out. In order for him to pick her up, I have to drop off the carseat with her. Guess what I forgot to do.... So poor Sydney is stuck until I get off of work tonight and David doesn't get to see her today. *Massive Face Palm* I feel the way this kid looks:

Where Has My Brain Gone?

I feel like my brain function is slowly deteriorating.

Over the past few weeks I have been forgetting everything! I almost locked both sets of the keys in the car last night and I keep forgetting to complete simple tasks. This morning I forgot this little guy...

For those of you that know our Sydney... this is a very big deal. I dropped Sydney off and got about ten minutes away before I realized that Lammie was sitting on the front seat. Syd has become completely dependent on him to fall asleep. We never let her use him during the day but he is a crucial part of nap time and bed time. Today may be interesting for Conni....
