From Three to Four

This will be news to some of you out there in blogland.... Our family is growing once again!

Sydney will be a big sister as of April next year and we could not be any happier. We always knew that we wanted our kids to be roughly two years apart and it looks as though there should be about two years and a couple months between them. Syd is so excited to have a sibling. We have been practicing with her baby doll and she loves to say hi to the baby and give my tummy kisses. She almost gave us away a couple of times!

It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride thus far. It has not been the easiest pregnancy to this point. I have to keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end. I will elaborate on that at a later date. For now, we are enjoying telling all of our friends and family the happy news and we are starting to prepare for another tiny human to take over our lives.

Fall Leaf Garland

Fall is in full force here in Edmonton.

The temperature is dropping and the leaves have all turned colour and fallen to the ground. Halloween is just around the corner so we decided to put up a few fall themed decorations. So I broke out all of my felt scraps and cut leaves of different shapes and sizes using pinking shears and regular scissors.

After putting them in order and stacking a couple to get a layered look, I set up the sewing machine and ran them through one after the other.

After sewing them all together I hung them on the mantel.

So simple but so cute! Sydney walked downstairs the morning I hung them and let out the biggest WAAAAOOOWW! that I have ever heard from her. It is feeling more like fall in our house already!

A Silly Sunday Afternoon

Living with a toddler is so much fun.... and messy!
We clean the house every night and within half an hour of Sydney being awake there are toys and crumbs EVERYWHERE! All of it is worth it though, because a messy house is the sign of a house full of fun. Sydney has been discovering dress up games and really loves to wear her silly headbands. Her new favorite snack is Ritz crackers. She runs over to the pantry yelling Kaka! Kaka!
Yep. Life sure is getting interesting... and super cute!

K & K - A Beautiful Mountain Wedding

A few weeks ago now (wow time is flying) we attended the wedding of one of David's best friends Kevin and his gorgeous bride Kate.

The setting could not have been any more beautiful. We all headed up to Nipika eco resort just outside of Invermere in BC. This is a resort comprised of 7 guest cabins and the staff cabin. They also have stables and a barn onsite. The entire resort is completely solar powered and environmentally friendly. It was so incredible to see solar power harnessed into something so cool.

Onsite there is also a fire heated hot tub that you have to stir with a paddle and a fire heated sauna. The whole thing was amazing. When we arrived we found a chalk board with the names of the cabins and guests names on it. Based on our assigned cabin we went to find it and get set up. Our cabin was so cute. There was a full kitchen and bathroom, a pull out bed on the main floor, and a wood burning fireplace for heat (and boy would we need it). Upstairs there was an open loft with a single bed, one room with a queen bed and one room with two singles. David and I had been assigned to the room with two single beds in it. It was all super cozy.

The first night we were there we had a massive fire and the boys set off some fire works. We all had s'mores and enjoyed the company. Almost everyone who had been invited to the wedding was sitting around the fire. It was incredible.

The next day was the actual wedding. David served as best man and yes.... the maid of honor was Rosie MacLennan, Canadian Olympic gold medalist and the bride's sister. The ceremony was gorgeous and very personal to the two of them. Kevin and Kate got married in front of the main cabin at the top of the hill. The view was so impressive.

The reception was held in the barn which was beautifuly decorated. The food was amazing and more fireworks and dancing followed.

All in all it was an awesome weekend. It was great to get away and catch up on some much needed rest. The lack of cell reception and internet was actually a refreshing change as well. When everything was said and done we were really excited to come home to see Sydney. We missed her so much!

A Cyclist - Just Like Daddy

In our house we love cycling.

Everything shuts down during the Tour de France and we have a few more bikes than people lying around the house. One of the items that the old home owners left behind in our house was a cute little tricycle. David cleaned it off and brought it out for Sydney and she was thrilled! I think David was a pretty proud papa too.

His little girl took to riding a bike pretty well!

The Stylish Travelling Mom

When we started travelling with Sydney I had a lot of fears.

I was terrified that we would not enjoy our adventures or that we would over pack or that nightmare of nightmares... we would look like one of those stereotypical tourist families. We have made all of the effort in the world to make our family travels fun and seamless. Of course there are always hiccups and things that you need to adapt to along the way... but the entire thing is worth it.

Sydney and I always like to look our best when we travel. I have the beautiful and completely amazing Petunia Pickle Bottom Ergo baby carrier. This thing has literaly been a pivotal piece of travel equipment for us.... and it looks cute! I usually try to avoid pushing products on people, but this is one piece of baby equipment that I cannot push enough. We went through three carriers before we fell in love with this one. We bought it when she was three months or so and I use it constantly. It is so comfortable that I cantt even tell that I am carrying around my 30 pound toddler! Amazing. And, it is the only way I can get her to sleep on flights.
