Doll Houses & Annoying Little Brothers

Do you have an annoying little brother who always seemed to get into your things but you still loved dearly? ....Sydney does.

We have been enjoying Sydney's doll house since she got it for Christmas and Henry has claimed parts of it as his own. As soon as Syd opens it up to play with it he army crawls his way over to get in the way. I love seeing how she reacts to his intrusion and even though I can tell she is a little bit frustrated she is so good about including him. It really is sharing at it's best. This doll house has created hours of entertainment for both kids, and that.... makes me very happy.

Sydney's Birthday

We have had a 3 year old for one week now.

I am finally getting around to going through all of my pictures from Sydney's birthday and decided to post a few. We had an incredible day as a family and it all started with breakfast, balloons and presents. After breakfast we had a constant stream of family to see the birthday girl ending in a big pizza party for dinner. David and I made a cake with decorations that were specific to Sydney's request (green icing, gummy bears and sprinkles) and we all had a great time celebrating our favorite little lady.

Three

I can't believe that our little lady is already 3.

Everybody tells you to enjoy the first years and reminds you that they will go by in the blink of an eye. They are completely right. I honestly feel like the day she was born was yesterday. I have no idea how it goes by so quickly even though I made every effort to savor every blissful moment with her. Sydney is my baby and my best little buddy. I love every snuggle and my heart melts into a massive puddle every time she tells me she loves me "soooooo much!" She has taught me so much about who I am and has made my life infinitely better.

Syd loves to color and is the biggest fan of the movie Frozen. He favorite thing to do is to go grocery shopping with her dad and she hosts regular random dance parties. She cracks me up every day and loves her brother more than we will ever know.

Happy Birthday Sydney!

Our Happy Home ~ Basement Framing

Well I figure it's about time I give you an update on the basement reno progress.

Our house has been a dust filled, crazy noisy, man filled mess lately and it is totally worth it. We are way past framing at this point but I am so behind on my blogging that I will just start here. We hired our contractor Tony and his cousin Dale to do the work on the basement for us and we couldn't be happier. They work like crazy and have made a massive amount of progress.

The basement will have three main rooms and a bathroom. The nanny's room is a large "L" shape and will have a walk in closet. My studio will have full shelving on one side, a wall bed for guests and a huge work table. Our rec room will have a big wall mounted TV and comfy sectional and the bathroom will have a tub/shower large vanity and open linen shelving. We also have a large storage room and furnace room with additional storage. In total we are adding about 1000 square feet of living space to our home. Here are a few photos of the framing progress.

Renee's Baby Shower

Amid all of the construction and mess I somehow managed to pull together a super cute baby shower for my oldest friend Renee.

Renee is expecting her second boy in a couple of weeks and I could not be more excited for her! I put together a plaid themed party to celebrate her new little being and we enjoyed catching up. I love nothing more than a low key party... or any other excuse to fill our home with people and fun. We ate, opened gifts and enjoyed each other company.

On the Menu:
~ Veggies
~ Fruit
~ Cranberry Baked Brie
~ Hummus and Pita
~ Mini Quiche
~ Snickerdoodle Cookies
~ Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing
~ Cranberry Punch
~ Cucumber Water
~ Pellegrino

I had a great time putting together the decorations too. I stitched up some paper garland on my sewing machine and managed to make enough to string them up around the entire main floor. A few tissue paper pom poms and some babies breath finished the look and pulled everything together. I am so happy with how it all turned out and I know Renee had a great time.

I am so excited to meet this new little man! Now if he would only hurry up and make his appearance.....

A Gift for a Friend

Yay! This beauty has finally been gifted so I am able to show off a few pictures!

When my good friend Renee told me she was pregnant with her second boy I was thrilled! I also knew as a mother or two kids myself that it would be really hard to find her a gift that she could actually use. Most second time moms have almost everything they need... especially if both children are the same gender :)

I knew the best thing to do was to put my creative cap on and make the new little guy something amazing! After sifting through my fabric stash I came up with this cute and classic boy combo. I LOVE the way it turned out!
