A Cyclist - Just Like Daddy

In our house we love cycling.

Everything shuts down during the Tour de France and we have a few more bikes than people lying around the house. One of the items that the old home owners left behind in our house was a cute little tricycle. David cleaned it off and brought it out for Sydney and she was thrilled! I think David was a pretty proud papa too.

His little girl took to riding a bike pretty well!

The Stylish Travelling Mom

When we started travelling with Sydney I had a lot of fears.

I was terrified that we would not enjoy our adventures or that we would over pack or that nightmare of nightmares... we would look like one of those stereotypical tourist families. We have made all of the effort in the world to make our family travels fun and seamless. Of course there are always hiccups and things that you need to adapt to along the way... but the entire thing is worth it.

Sydney and I always like to look our best when we travel. I have the beautiful and completely amazing Petunia Pickle Bottom Ergo baby carrier. This thing has literaly been a pivotal piece of travel equipment for us.... and it looks cute! I usually try to avoid pushing products on people, but this is one piece of baby equipment that I cannot push enough. We went through three carriers before we fell in love with this one. We bought it when she was three months or so and I use it constantly. It is so comfortable that I cantt even tell that I am carrying around my 30 pound toddler! Amazing. And, it is the only way I can get her to sleep on flights.

Little House for Our Little Lady

This past Saturday was one of those rare days in our house.

We had absolutely nothing planned and David was actually home! So we decided to do a couple of things that we have been meaning to tackle or a while. One of those things was turing a huge box we had saved from moving into a play house for Syd. So we broke out the exacto knife, sharpies and duck tape and got to work.

We devided on a peaked roof, one door and three windows. As soon as the door was cut Sydney junmped inside. She knew exactly what it was for and could not wait! I cut a door knob for her and from that point on she was in and out constantly.

Syd sat and read for a bit while David and I worked on her dream house.....

The best part was when Dave came upstairs with a box of lino peel and stick tiles that looked like parkay flooring. The old home owners had left it in the garage so we put them to good use! I laid the "hardwood flooring" in Sydney's house and from that point on she was totally obsessed.

Mommy - Daughter Baking

I love and hate that Sydney is getting older all at the same time.

I still can't believe that we have a full on toddler ruling our house, but it is so much fun to watch her grow into a little person with so much personality. She has turned into a little parrot. She repeats almost EVERYTHING we say. It is super cute but it does mean that we have to mind our words more.

One of the fun things about Syd getting older is that she wants to get so much more involved in things going on around the house. The other day I was making some cupcakes for a dinner we were hosting. Sydney took one look at everything on the kitchen counter and she knew she had to get in there.

I pulled her up on the counter to see what was going on but that wasn't enough. She wanted to help pour and stir. So I put all of the ingredients in the bowl and let her go to town.

It was so awesome to see how the simplest thing was so exciting for her. Dave managed to sneak around the corner at some point and snap a few pictures.

She did get a little over excited at one point and fling cake batter all over the kitchen. I don't think that she understood that you can't stir cake batter with your eyes closed. it will always end up all over the place.

Catching Up... Our Anniversary

I cannot believe that it has taken me a MONTH to put up this blog post.

I have to admit.... I used to do a lot of blog posting from my desk at work. I didn't really have a huge work load at my old job so posting during the day was no problem! Now that things have changed and I am at a new position within ATCO my free time has really dropped off.

Our 3rd anniversary has come and gone. We were actually on the way home from Montreal on our wedding anniversary. As of August 22 of this year I have been married to the love of my life for 3 amazing years! We have established a tradition where we alternate who plans our anniversary celebration every year. This year was my turn.

I booked us in for a nice long dinner and a show.

We hit up Zinc at the Edmonton Gallery for dinner and it was Ah.Maze.Ing.

We had some delicious drinks...

Some delicious appies...

Salty, crunchy, warm bread...

And ridiculously good entrees...

We finished dinner and headed over to the Jubilee theatre to see Jersey Boys.... It was so good! the music was so incredible and the actor playing Frankie Valli was perfect for the role.

All in all it was such an awesome way to celebrate 3 perfect years. I cant wait to see what the next years bring us!
