If there is one thing that Bali is really becoming known for, it's their food.
This island is a foodies paradise. With an emphasis on healthy foods and an abundance of vegan and vegetarian restaurants and warungs (small family run street style food stops), there are a million options. It does make choosing where to eat very difficult! Luckily, we have some good friends who have been here many times and can offer up some fantastic suggestions. One of those suggestions was Watercress.
Although not a vegetarian restaurant, Watercress has a large international menu that offers options for everyone. We went with the intention of tackling some brunch and boy did we get it. The building itself is adorable. Open air dining on two levels and so much character. Comfy pillows and great decor. It feels so homey and laid back.
Step one was to get a couple of smoothies to start. The kids shared a strawberry milkshake (they are not overly adventurous with their smoothies) and I ordered a Watermelon and mint juice. Super refreshing!
Next step was food! It was actually hard to choose what to get. The menu had so many amazing options. Here is what we went with (Descriptions below the photos):
Banana Crepe with Melted Dark Chocolate |
Ham & Cheese Crepe with Cheese Sauce |
Quinoa Breakfast Bowl: Poached Eggs over Honey Roasted Pumpkin, Red Quinoa, Minted Yogurt, Baby Spinach, Fresh Cilantro and Crispy Kale |
Mac & Cheese |
Crispy Sweet Corn Fritters: Avocado, Tomato & Cilantro Salsa, House Chili Jam & Sour Cream Topped w/ Organic Poached Eggs |
Let's just say that we were NOT disappointed at all and the plates were pretty clean at the end of the meal. The prices were completely reasonable (Food is so much cheaper here in Bali) and our total bill came to about $32 Canadian. All I have to say, is that it would be very easy to gain a little weight here in Bali if you weren't being careful.
