Dave and I think it is super important to always take the kids wishes into consideration when planning what we are going to do each day. Some days, we plan things that are more for their entertainment than ours. And sometimes, those things turn out to be just as much fun for us as it is for them. This was one of them.
Vietnam is famous for it's water puppet shows. Dating back as far at the 11th century, these shows are performed by multiple actors who are behind a screen maneuvering wooden puppets on the end of sticks hidden under the water. The result is a super cute and very entertaining show filled with silly humour and cute characters. The show runs about 45 minutes and is usually comprised of multiple short stories. The music is provided by live musicians, narrators and singers. It's fantastic!
The puppet show was finished before 6pm and we gave the kids the option to choose anything they wanted for dinner. They chose McDonald's! We knew that they had seen them around town so we kind of had a feeling that we would be visiting the golden arches. We walked to the super swanky Saigon Center Mall where we pigged out on McDonald's and marvelled at all of the Western stores. The entire mall was also elaborately decorated for Christmas already! Over the top. Our final stop was to the pedestrian street in from of City Hall where we enjoyed people watching and just generally had a good time in the cooler air. It was the perfect family night.
