Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam ~ A Custom Tailored Suit

A custom suit is one of those luxury items that travelers to Vietnam always talk about. It is one of those things that we talked about before we left Edmonton. But it is one of those things that we were not sure would happen. After doing a little bit of research we came across a tailor with some amazing reviews close to us in Ho Chi Minh. We knew we needed to start the process as soon as possible if it was going to be done on time. So on Tuesday we ran over to Phi Phi Tailors to get the ball rolling.

They were so amazing with the kids. Our three monkeys settled into bean bag chairs to watch Netflix while David and I picked out fabrics and styles. He was measured up so fast and efficiently and we left the store with a date and time for him to return. We had chosen to buy two shirts and one suit. All completely custom.

When Dave went in for his first fitting, it was only for the jacket. They did some small adjustments and gave him a second fitting time. Friday at 3:15pm. The hope was that it would be finished at that point and any small adjustments would be done on the spot before he took it home.

Unfortunately when he returned to Phi Phi on Friday afternoon it wasn't quite ready. One of the brothers who sews the suits had gotten sick so they were a bit behind. Dave was told to come back after dinner.... and when he returned, he was given this beautifully fitted suit. It is perfection!

The entire experience was so fantastic. The fabric is high quality (cashmere for the suit) and it all came together before we had to catch our flight to Danang on Saturday.

The total cost for one suit and two shirts.... $240 US. $190 for the suit and $25 for each shirt. Can you believe it!? We have already shipped it home to Edmonton along with a few other items bought along the way, but we can't wait to get home and go through all of the fun things we've sent home.
