Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam ~ Day Two Adventures

The contrast of modern activity and a tough history make Ho Chi Minh such an interesting city.

On our second day full day in the city we really hit the ground running. We headed to the pink church first to get some fun photos. It is a fully working Catholic church so there was no way for us to go in. But the promise of a practically hot pink church was just too much to pass up.

We hit the pavement to our next stop. the War Remnant Museum was at the top of our must see list in the city. We knew it would be a tough one for the kids but we also wanted to make sure that we were honest about the history of the countries we plan on visiting. Especially Vietnam with it's recent history.

The museum was so well done. It was so interesting to see the Vietnamese point of view after only ever hearing the Western side our entire lives. Not that either side is wrong, just obviously biased. Sydney really showed interest in many of the exhibits and asked so many smart questions. She only really had a tough time once we got to the exhibits that featured the effects of agent orange. To be honest, even Dave and I had a hard time looking at some of the images. We opted to skip a few of the tougher exhibits and moved on to the big machinery outside.

Lunch was back near the Ben Thanh market at 4P's. It is a smaller franchise here in Vietnam that makes killer pizza and pasta. We pigged out!

Before heading home we made one more stop... to the custom tailor. But I think I might save that for it's own post. Some things are just too exciting to share space with other things.
