32 Weeks

Squishy at 32 Weeks

I have been seriously lacking in the pregnancy update department.

This poor kid is already getting the shaft when it comes to attention. I am really going to have to work hard to give both kids equal treatment and take just as many photos of Squishy as I did of Sydney. This pregnancy had be so completely different. I knew that it would be tougher the second time around with less time to rest and a toddler to keep up with.... but I had no idea it would be this hard.

I have been in a lot of pain lately. My hips and pelvis are incredibly sore and I am having a ton of contractions. I had an ultrasound yesterday and we discovered that this little guy or gal is breech. So a lot of my pain is stemming from little feet kicking me where it hurts the most. We also discovered that this little one is not so little (surprise, surprise) and that my placenta has moved JUST far enough to allow me to have a natural delivery. Lots of news in a short period of time.

I ended up being at the ultrasound for an hour and a half and then I had to book it over to the OB's office for my regular appointment. She seems confident that it will all work itself out, but I am not feeling so great. We will see how the next couple of weeks go.

At 32 weeks...

Weight gained: Close to 40.
Baby gender: Still a giant secret.
Belly button in or out: Out and annoying. Squishy loves to give my belly button direct punches
Food cravings: Spicy and salty
Food aversions: Just really bit meals. I am really running out of space.
Appointments: Just read above. My next appointment is on March 12.
How I am feeling: I am sore and exhausted and generally sick of being pregnant.
Exciting milestones:  I am  well into the 30's. It makes everything seem so much more real.
Things I am looking forward to: My last day of work.
Things that I miss: Sushi and Wine! I am missing it so much!
Thoughts: I am so emotional and tired. I am so so sore and just want to lay in bed or on the couch all day. I feel like I can't give Sydney my best at the end of the work day when all I want to do is be lazy in my sweatpants.
Daddy's thoughts:
Sydney's thoughts: Sydney is just excited to meet her sibling and have her mommy back.

Foodie Love ~ Zombie Boogers

Looks appetizing doesn't it....

It is actually super delicious candied popcorn that we colored green. I had so much fun making this popcorn and I will most definitely be using this recipe for other events in other colors. So good!

I can't actually take any credit for this recipe. I found it via Pinterest on a blog called Paper & Parcel. I found it super easy to make and it was an absolute hit. Give it a try for your next event!

The Necessities:
~ 20 Cups of Popcorn (We used air popped)
~ 1 Cup of Butter
~ 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar
~ 1/2 Cup of White Corn Syrup
~ 1 Tsp of Salt
~ 1 Tsp of Vanilla
~ Food Coloring (I used Wilton gel coloring)
~ 2 Tsp of Baking Soda

The Process:
~ Preheat oven to 250F
~ Put popcorn into two shallow baking or casserole dishes
~ In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Keep stirring to dissolve sugar.
~ Bring to a boil and allow to boil for 4 minutes
~ Pull off of the heat and add vanilla and food coloring quickly
~ Add baking soda. The mixture will become cloudy and should almost double in size.
~ Once everything is evenly integrated, pour over the popcorn and stir until evenly coated
~ Place popcorn in heated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes
~ Remove from the oven and allow to cool for no more than 5 minutes
~ Break apart popcorn and allow to cool
~ Time to eat!

A Day at the Museum

We don't spend a lot of time together as a family.

With David's shift schedule and my regular work day we cross paths a lot during the week and trade off baby duty. Thankfully, all of that will change once I am on Mat Leave.... we are just counting down the days now. Well, last Monday Canada celebrated family day and Sydney, David and I were bound a determined to make the best of the fact that we were both off. We knew that we wanted to take her to the museum and that it would be insane because it was free for family day, but we decided to do it anyway.

It was a complete zoo. I have honestly never seen so many people in the museum at one time. I actually felt a little but claustrophobic  I think part of it is how pregnant I am and the other part was the multiple child mayhem. At first everything was great, then Syd started feeding off of the pandemonium.  She ended up having the biggest public melt-down ever (she had never done that before) and even David was having a tough time handling her. It was a full blown, back arching, crying, yelling no melt down..... awesome. Needless to say, we will be going to the museum on a busy day like that again. Lesson learned, our child feeds off the chaos of others. Check out how happy she was in the family photo below.

The Walking Dead ~ Mid-Season Premiere Party

I don't know about you.... but we are HUGE fans of the Walking Dead!

I should have posted this two weeks ago but I have really not been feeling well and I am attempting to wrap up a million things at work before I leave on Mat Leave. We threw a small get together for the Walking Dead mid season premiere and we managed to come up with a pretty zombie-tastic menu. I made red velvet brain cupcakes, zombie booger popcorn and blood orange chicken wings. Our friend Amber made pasta with turkey meatball eyes and turkey dogs that looked like severed fingers... gross and so good all at the same time. It was so much fun to get together to watch one of our favorite shows with friends and enjoy some fun themed food. I might have to do this for every premiere! I will post the recipes for these items as soon as I get a moment today. Yum!

Sorry for the lack of blog activity lately. I have really been struggling through my days and have no energy to update the blog when I get home. Luckily, I have wrapped up a few of the pressing items I had to get done and I can update you on what we have been up to.

Stay tuned for many blog posts today!

Sydney Eats Ice Cream

I honestly don't know if there is anything funnier than a toddler attempting to eat ice cream.

After skating a couple of weeks ago, David, Sydney and I went out for dinner. Syd was given an ice cream sunday for dessert and she was an absolute riot. Half of the ice cream ended up in her lap and we could not stop laughing at her. the best part was that she was so focused on the ice cream that she didn't care that we were filming her the entire time.

For your enjoyment, here is a toddler eating ice cream.

Sydney's Second Birthday Party

We survived the second Birthday party!

This past Saturday we celebrated Sydney's second Birthday party. We had about 10 kids and 35 adults in the house to eat and hang out and it could not have been more fun. I planned all of the details for months and took two weeks to actually put everything together. In the end, I am so happy with how everything turned out. I handmade all of the decorations and the food and David supported me the entire way. How do you think it turned out?

If you would like any recipes or tutorials on how I made anything below just let me know!
