Jimbaran, Bali ~ Cuca for Dinner

I'm going to let you in on a little secret... this was my favourite meal in Bali.

As incredible as all of the plant based meals were in Ubud, Cuca in Jimbaran was just next level. A small plate, tapas style format menu with fusion style cooking hidden just off the beach and a two minute walk from our hotel. We were so excited to go check out a restaurant that had received such rave reviews and hoped that it would be friendly enough for the kids. It far surpassed our expectations.

When we arrived on the beautiful restaurant property we were immediately blown away by how beautiful it was. Both indoor dining and outdoor tables were stunning giving dinners options. Outside, the tables were set under the coconut trees. We were able to walk in for a very early dinner (just before 5pm so we could catch the sunset) without a reservation. When we were seated at our outdoor table we were offered an all natural bug repellent if we found that the mosquitos were bothering us. They had a beautiful outdoor play area right beside the table which included a few lawn games. The kids played while Dave and I sat down for a drink. Perfection.

Th entire experience is set for families to have the most enjoyable meal possible. The kids are entertained while the parents have a moment to relax. And it didn't stop there. Back at the table the kids were given colouring sheets and pencil crayons. Right before dinner the kids were given a treat. Cotton candy!Who doesn't love dessert before dinner!? They were thrilled.

We ordered off of the kids menu for our little ones, grilled cheese and chicken meat balls for them to share. As for us, we ordered fiver different small plates to share. Cuca suggests three dishes per person but we knew we were a little short on time so we ordered less.... but once the food started coming out, I wish we had ordered more! Each dish came out one at a time so that we could enjoy taking our time with the food. It was the perfect way to present it. Here is what we ordered...

Amuse Bouche

Scallops

Parmesan Chili Street Corn

Pork Buns

Roasted Pumpkin Salad with Green Beans, Granola and Yogurt

Ricotta Gnocchi with Watermelon and Greens

The food was divine. So flavourful and creative, really nice for sharing and absolutely delicious. It was a perfect night with high end food at a shockingly affordable price. On the way out we walked past the kitchen (which was beautiful!) and the chef came out and gave the kids each a little bag with a house made cookie. A great little detail the end the night.

Go. Don't walk to Cuca, Run. Run fast and eat lots.
